I am a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance and completed my two hundred hours of Yoga Teacher Training in May of 2011, with Pam Schulte at Just Practice Yoga LLC. I studied anatomy, range of motion, philosophy, teaching methodology and sequencing. It was a nine-month study and we observed as well as taught in front of Pam Schulte and her students. I am also a member of IAYT/ International Association of Yoga Therapists. I took an eight-day intense training at Duke Integrative Medicine for Senior Therapeutic Yoga, and am a Certified Senior Yoga Instructor from Yoga for Seniors with Carol Krucoff and Kimberly Carson. The training specialized in Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis, as well as learning aspects of heart disease, lung disease and cognitive disabilities, i.e. Alzheimer's.
I am currently studying Gentle Yoga from Yoga Vista Acadamy in Vista, CA. I have been a practitioner of Yoga regularly since 1993. I am also a Spiritual Director, and a member of Spiritual Directors International. I studied with Dr. Dwight Judy at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. I completed my studies in Spiritual Direction in 2004.
Some other interesting facts about me…. I grew up in Mesquite, Texas a suburb of Dallas and was very involved in the youth choir at my local church, St. Stephen United Methodist Church. I was also an athletic trainer in high school and at The University of Texas at Arlington where I graduated in 1988. I went to Germany during my junior year and volunteered to work with the developmentally disabled. After my year abroad, I decided I wanted to travel and I majored in German. I started travelling as a Flight Attendant in 1988 for a major airline on international routes, utilizing my German capabilities. I lived in Chicago for nearly 18 years, and then moved to St. Louis, MO for 10 years. I returned to Texas several years ago and am ready to begin my teaching journey here in Texas. I have much gratitude for this opportunity!
