Welcome to Fuller Spirit, Body, Mind....
The Labyrinth is a meditative walk encompassing the use of left and right turns to calm the mind and the body in order to listen to our spirit. We can walk this path alone, with loved ones, and with the community at large. I have not only walked the Labyrinth, which is not to be confused with a maze, but have followed it to offer spiritual mentoring and to teach the ancient practice of yoga.
Fuller Spirit, Body, Mind is a name that embodies who I am and reflects my journey. I studied Spiritual Direction in 2001 for three years at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. with Dr. Dwight Judy. He was my pastor at St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Mesquite, TX, when I was a teenager. Our paths crossed not by coincidence, but by a plan that I feel was laid out in front of me and that I continue to follow; similar to the Labyrinth.
I have been a student of yoga since 1993. I practiced with a German lady at the Chicago Park district who was nearly 70 years old. She was an amazing teacher, who had an incredible outlook on life as well as looking great! I had a back injury at the time and had been told by my acupuncturist to check out yoga. After many mentors in yoga, I decided to take a Teacher Training course of 200 hours from Pam Schulte, Just Practice Yoga. I studied the philosophy, teaching methodology and anatomy from aspects of both Hatha yoga (which is the general term for Yoga and means Sun/Moon) and Astanga yoga (this is a set practice and it means 8 limbs yoga). I also learned the philosophy of the snowflake principle, which places emphasis upon the individual, even in a class setting. Just as there are no two snowflakes alike, neither are there two individuals alike in the way that their bodies and minds present themselves while practicing yoga. I value this principle more than any other, whether it is in yoga, Spiritual Direction or cooking pasta. Each experience and person is unique in their own right.
I have continued the path by studying for eight days, Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors at Duke Integrative Medicine, in Durham, North Carolina from Carol Krucoff and Kimberly Carson. I want to share my knowledge and understanding of this ancient tradition with a wide variety of people, and with the elders of the next generation.
Please contact me if you would like further information about me, or general inquiries of how I can best help you and your Spirit, Body, Mind!
Namaste,
Jacob Fuller
